I liked this episode a lot. :)
Coach is coming home!!! \o/
Finally. Everything seems to be falling apart without him there, it's painful to watch.

I must admit I did like Garrety's "He's mean. I think he's evil." line. lmao

Hee. Yes, I guess that was funny. And I do find Garrety's manic hatred of the new Coach pretty funny.

I am *panicked* about what kind of operation Jason is going to expose himself to. I'm really hoping that both guys realize the danger and stop it before it begins.
*nods* I'm pretty scared too. If the show sticks to the realism, I think they're both in for a shock. Jason's got himself stuck believing what he wants to believe--it may be up to Tim to drag him out of there.

I love that they are showing us this friendship again, and it's really quite believable too.
Definitely! I really loved Jason's 'you SUCK as a friend' rant because despite it all being actually true, you could see that despite that Jason DID think of Tim as a friend. And so when Tim said 'Mexico, huh?' I didn't know whether to cry or laugh!

He never made much of an impression on me before, but I'm finding him to be the most tragic character on the show now. Even if they do get away with the crime, I think ultimately, Tyra will break his heart.I think so too. And I was never that into Landry either but he's really interesting now. I liked him way back in that episode ( ... )

I really liked the episode - one of my biggest fears (Tyra/Landry was THE biggest) was that the show is going to go the usual way of mocking non-mainstream churches. I am so glad they are showing the congregation in all it's complexity and diversity.

I agree with you - I actually don't think Tim meant his outburst as a "line" at all (though it is may be THE FUNNIEST thing I ever heard!) . I think Tim is like a child in so many respects - so many things just "happen" to him without thinking. This can be said for his first time with Lyla and for his affair with the neighbor too. His being needs Lyla and he feels it but he doesn't know what to do with it AT ALL.

I am a bit angry with Julie - she is acting so selfishly (and Swede guy is so slimy!!) but I guess this is a teenager stage!

Oh, that's interesting that you say you feared that. It did seem treated very fairly and while I'm an atheist, I found it was portrayed in a way that allowed me to see why it was really important to Lyla and why even Tim found a sense of connection.

He's not emotionally conscious at ALL. It makes perfect character sense too with his parents abandoning him with his brother and then the way the football team gives him status artificially. I think he just acts on impulse all the time and he doesn't know how to articulate what he's feeling at all. I don't think he's premeditated at ( ... )

I think it worked really well because Tim is so very lost and he craves connection desperately.

Agreed! It was very "Tim" for him to go in for the kiss and not see why it was inappropriate.

This was the best episode of the second season, I'm not writing the show off yet.

Me neither--I agree that it was the strongest so far this season.

I agree so much about Tim and Lyla. I've always kind of liked them and this works so well for this time in his life. So true about connection. Aww Matt and the apology. His Coach is way too connected to his love life. Poor Julie :( I don't like her actions sometimes but I can understand it in the end. Coach needs to come back!
