MIFF Day One

Jul 28, 2007 10:56

Hello LJ! I missed you! :-) This is the first of my film festival posts, hurriedly uploaded from an internet cafe. ;-) I managed to do five consecutive sessions on Day One. I think that'll be my daily record for the festival. As it was, I wound up with a headache. (Note to self: don't forget to pack nurofen tomorrow!) Met up with a couple of ( Read more... )

What a joy to read this. I hope you're having a wonderful time. Behind the Veil/Eve and Marilyn and Scott Walker: 30th Century Man sound fascinating. I love the reviews of all the films. They're informative and concise. Thanks!

Oh yay! I'm glad you enjoyed the reviews, even though they were written while strung out on lack of sleep and and all... ;-) I'm a little behind in getting them up, but more to follow. *g*

Yay! You saw 30th Century Man! I've been wanting to see that for ages. I *love* Scott Walker, especially his latest album (though the 60s stuff is beautiful, too). So it was good? How much Greenwoodness was there? :D

Hee, and I think it's hilarious that you feel all familiar with them now. My work here has not been in vain!

It was very good, yes! :-) You must see it! There was not that much Greenwoodness, but what there was was adorable, of course. :-) And I thought it was a great overview of his career and thoroughly entertaining.

I got this weird jolt when they flew up on screen. It was like suddenly seeing a family member or something! Hee. *g* They were just so familiar--not at all the same feeling with the other famous folks.

Btw, I am run ragged at the moment moving back into house, but will try and get online to catch you for chat some time soon. hope you are well! *g*

Hello! Good to see you. :-)

And several of these films sound fascinating. I'd heard about Once and am most curious to see it, though I'll probably have to wait for it to come out on DVD. Your discussion of 30th Century Man just gave me mental whiplash, as I'd never heard of Scott Walker the musician, but I've worked with a Scott Walker (different guy, with whom I have a complicated history) and had a moment of "Wait, someone made a documentary about HIM? And, hang on, he's a musician? HUH?" before I realized it was a totally different person with the same name.

It was like the whole universe just got knocked off-kilter for a second there, but now it's okay again.

Heee hee! It's always weird when that happens, isn't it? ;-) Sorry to have caused you confusion.

Once is gorgeous! Watch out for it on DVD! *g*

And yay, I'm so glad I'm 'back'! \o/ How have you been?

ooohh you lucky girl, sounds like you are having a great time of it. I was particularly interested in your review of the scott walker bio. I have a couple of his albums. He was a great singer.

You have such a way with words! Your description of Once has me intrigued. I might keep my eye out for it.

You sound like you're having fun at the festival :) :)

Oh, it was so beautiful! *swoons* Not quite as beautiful as pilots, of course, but still... ;)

Yes, I'm having much fun though I'm exhausted now--moved back into home yesterday.

It's fun doing different things but it's always great to get back home! There's nothing quite like your own bed :) :)
