Randomly fangirling Kate

Temporarily emerging from my self-imposed posting hiatus (hahaha--I lasted one day!) to fangirl mskatej. It's an important cause! Kate is one of my closest friends in fandom and one of only three people on my f'list who I've met in person. (And yes, she is even more awesome in person!)

So many thank yous, Bop for pointing me in the direction of mskate_j's post. I've been mulling that topic over for a while now, and in her own way, Kate just knocked it out of the park.

Hope your rl issues have eased up. I was going to do a similar fade out and wound up posting again, too. I think we're addicted. ;)

I have to agree about the female sexism in fandom. However, acknowledging that you hate on women just because they have a vagina (especially at first) is *not* akin to instantly being able to stop it. We all have to try to recognize the impulse in ourselves and resist it. It takes effort and time, but I personally have found it to be worth it.

I agree. It requires constant vigilance to catch oneself subscribing to the kind of covert sexism which we're conditioned into.
