That wasn't so hard...

Well, I did it. I have successfully finished my lift truck training. It was supposed to be over two days, but my instructor decided that he would be willing to stay late and let me do my "road test" today. That saves me a trip back in to Brantford tomorrow. Fine by me. It was still close to an 11 hour day ( Read more... )

wow, congratulations! it must be a lot of fun to drive a forklift ;-)

i've made a point of trying out all sorts of vehicles, from tractor-trailer rigs to motorcycles to small aircraft and even a boat or two - there was one time, in college, when my friends had to almost physically restrain me to keep me from hot-wiring a giant road grader (hey, it was just sitting there!). but i haven't yet had the opportunity to try a forklift. so i envy you, in the nicest way possible ;-)

Mmmmm... road grader. I would be hard pressed to resist one, myself. The training school I went to offers a full 6-week course for Heavy Equipment, but it's $10g to attend. I can still dream about Tonka trucks for adults!

The only problem with driving a lift truck is having to deal with those annoying pedestrians. It would be the most stressful part of the day, and would stretch across the entire shift. With power comes responsibility.

yeah... i wanted to learn welding, but the "materials fee" for the class is prohibitive. i did get a chance to try learning blacksmithing, only to find that i can just barely lift the smallest hammer :-(

if your forklift has a horn or warning bell, just sound off a lot, to warn away pedestrians...

That is one of the funniest things I've ever seen! That makes the Canadian training videos seem pretty tame in comparison.

I'll pass the link on to my instructor - I think he'll get a kick out of it, too!

Congratulations! For the training certificate AND the end of working for Das Circus.
The Crow Crap-Fest Party on TheMouth's car has to be the most hilarious thing I've read in a long time.

I wish there was a way I could have snuck out and got a photo of the car. Apparently it was quite well covered. It all just seemed so *right*.
