No, the article isn't outdated in terms of the US position. As former VP gore points out in "an inconvenient truth," car companies refuse to make cars fit a set of emission standards. The goal?: have this happen by around 2015. Car companies in the US said "No! it's impossible!" while CHINA is already requiring their cars to meet this standard. Apparently, we can't do in almost 10 years what china is already doing

yes, government is silly...which is why, for the most part, I try not to think about it. In fact, now, at the end of another semester, I try not to think much at all.
Not thinking is relaxing sometimes, and helps to dissipate frustrations. Other times, not thinking leads to a lack of action on issues, such as the continuing sudan tragedy and failure to act on global warming warnings...
So we're in the process of slowly changing all lightbulbs in our apartment to incandescent, using heating and air conditioning less, trying to drive more fuel-effiecent cars, and looking for other ways to personally address the global warming...and then trying not to think about the silly government again ;)
You are welcome to rant on my journal anytime, especially when it relates to something that you're passionate about. Lose your passion for life or ideas in general, lose your will to live, I say.
They did agree to something--did you hear? the German leader got a spoken agreement (Bush refused to sign anything) that all the G8 nations would try to cut emissions in half by mid-century...gah! At least it's something, but this is RIDICULOUS!!!
anyway, feel free to keep ranting. The more attention someone brings to things, the more likely people are to take action!
