Really great family interaction here. I love the last line, with Rip figuring out what's going on, and all the layers of who learnt what from whom. Sad but heartwarming. Great fic.

Homesick is a very appropriate word for it, I think. Wishing you could be somewhere else with someone else, but doing things that remind yourself of that person and place easing the ache a little.
