Every time I see a solicit for a new issue, I just want to go and read the corresponding issue from the first run. Can we do that? And just gush at how great it is? And pretend the second run doesn't exist?
Have you read anything of the new issue? Even the preview shows Jaime having a sweet, family moment with his grandmother and no longer afraid. The series has been getting better.
This issue wasn't as painfully bad as it's been, but I still think it's unnecessary and awful and I want John Rogers back.
In this installment of JAIME'S LIFE SUCKS ISN'T IT SO HARD TO BE A SUPERHERO, Jaime's grandmother still didn't really explain how she knows Jaime is the Blue Beetle, Evil Plot Device Beetle Paco tries to kill Brenda in order to lure Jaime out of hiding, Jaime and Khaji Da Talk About Jesus (no really, Khaji Da points out a picture of Jesus Christ on the wall in Jaime's grandmother's apartment and Jaime has to explain it), and Jaime offers to give some of his heart to Paco so he doesn't have to keep turning into Plot Device Beetle. And now Brenda doesn't think Jaime-as-Blue-Beetle is King of the Douchecanoes anymore because he saved Paco.
I still prefer my version of events, in which EVERYTHING IS LIKE VERSION ONE ONLY THIS TIME WITH 100% ACTUAL ALIVE TED KORDS.
Blood Beetle sounds like something Ted & Booster would've made up. Like, if they decided to start their own comic company. "Nah, Max, the Superbuddies cartoon is too tame. Check this out--'The Adventures of Blood Beetle and the Golden Touch'! We just need some start up funding . . . No, Max, no, you aren't supposed to take that many asprins at once!"
