Gay Rights

Disclaimer: Despite the pasted text below, I don't actually care if you post it or not. I won't think less of you if you don't. I merely wanted to post it myself, in my own LJ, as we all do post things in our own LJs. I believe in gay rights, but I don't believe in chain letters. :D

Well, it would be different if it were an email; I wouldn't pass on something like that, but this isn't going to thousands of inboxes.

Oh, I know. :) I'm just explaining why I won't be putting it in my journal, in case you might think I fell in the category of people who don't care about gay rights or something. :)

I wouldn't think anybody fell into that category unless they actually said so. :) It's not worded quite the way I would've worded it, but I just copied and pasted it from elsewhere. Sometimes this kind of post sounds bullying, in a way. I dunno.

I believe in human rights. A right is by definition universal and extends to all equally. Last time I checked, all gays were human beings. Therefore, gays have human rights. The same ones as everyone else.

Once a right is no longer universal, it is no longer a right. It is a privilege. So I suppose I support gay rights but not gay privilege.

That's nice, but you obviously have missed the point and don't see that gay people are not treated as equals, which *is* the point of what I posted. Asking for equality is not asking for too much.

Would you care to say who you are? It's a bit rude to hide, don't you think?
