Can anyone explain why I was singing 'In the Bleak Midwinter' in the car in a voice that sounded as if I'd been inhaling helium? Because I can't think of a reason, or even a random thought process that led to this

Ah, but this way I don't trip over the hem (touch wood), I get to show off my pedicured toes (the bride has booked us all in for the day before) and I get to wear sparkles on my feet: win/win/win!

I think it's called chloasma (but I may be totally wrong on that). It's caused by hormones making your skin more sensitive to sunlight - generally pregnancy and the pill, but you can just get it. If you looked up things on google along those lines, you'd definitely get links. My sister has it, and the only (non-drastic) thing you can do is smear factor 30 sunscreen on the skin - or try skin lighteners, but they have hazards.
