Can anyone explain why I was singing 'In the Bleak Midwinter' in the car in a voice that sounded as if I'd been inhaling helium? Because I can't think of a reason, or even a random thought process that led to this ( Read more... )

You know that does make a bit of sense - I'm sure it isn't usually this bad and I have just got back from a couple of weeks in a far sunnier clime.

Ah, but this way I don't trip over the hem (touch wood), I get to show off my pedicured toes (the bride has booked us all in for the day before) and I get to wear sparkles on my feet: win/win/win!

It'll be my netball trainers for the evening do though. Oh yes.

I think it's called chloasma (but I may be totally wrong on that). It's caused by hormones making your skin more sensitive to sunlight - generally pregnancy and the pill, but you can just get it. If you looked up things on google along those lines, you'd definitely get links. My sister has it, and the only (non-drastic) thing you can do is smear factor 30 sunscreen on the skin - or try skin lighteners, but they have hazards.

Have just googled - thanks - and will be investing in a high factor sunscreen. So glad this isn't just me...
