I know some of you buy patterns and make clothes, but where do you buy them from? Are there any particularly good online sites where I could buy a McCall's 3436? I don't know when I'll get a chance to go to John Lewis, and googling has confused me (but it is rather late)...

Help appreciated!

http://www.sewdirect.com/ is the standard site. I've only ever ordered equipment from them, and I don't remember it being especially quick to arrive, but patterns are probably different. If you need it quickly, you may be better off phoning JL to see if they have it in stock (or can order it) and can send it to you, or you collect at the weekend. I'd offer to run down to the shop myself, but alas I have absolutely no spare time whatsoever just at the moment!

Thanks for the suggestion. I phoned John Lewis, only to find that they don't stock McCall patterns. I wonder why...could there be a feud?

Sew Direct it is. I think I will phone them first to ask whetehr it is in stick...

It's just one of those things - of the "big four" pattern companies, Simplicity, McCalls, Vogue, and Butterick, whic are the major US/UK pattern companies (with the other one commonly available in UK shops being the German Burda), I find that most shops will stock Vogue, plus a couple of the others, but that far fewer stock all four. I suspect it is down to local markets and what the main thrust of sales are.

Not an online source but I'm pretty sure that City Cycles (they have a reasonable sewing/craft section) in Ely stock McCalls patterns if that helps any.

Thanks, they had the other two sizes but not the one I need!
