Radium parties were a rather terrifying innovation of the 1930s and part of the radiation craze. People would include radium in cocktails (so the drinks glowed in the dark) and decorate themselves and their homes with the substance. Of course it was rather a dampner on the party when bodyparts started falling off...

Thank you for such an inspiring prompt (and for the rec)! For someone with such a minute role, I have come up with quite a backstory for Leselia Frost. Muggle born, she was originally called Lesley, but changed her name to try to mask her origins. She acts as a sort of school secretary, the appropriate administrative charms not having been perfected at this point.
It was my first Potterfic, and when I started to think of the clothes Dumbledore was wearing, the rest just flowed (with a helping hand from the internet). Really glad you enjoyed it.
