Oh man, I really like Marcone, too! Which is, uh, about the only good thing I can say about this book. By the end I was so, so sick of things going wrong for Harry and his angsting about it and then further things going wrong.
I can't tell if the author was trying to side with Harry on the WOMEN NEED TO BE PROTECTED OMG front or trying to point out that he's an idiot while still doing it from his POV.
Marcone is 100000% awesome. I would buy a whole series of books about Johnny Marcone BEING AWESOME and love every page of it. This book though? I had CRUSHING DEPRESSION by the end of it. Along with a terminal sickness of summary endings and people with my name not being awesome enough. >(
... I actually recall hoping that he was just taking the piss out of Harry. I mean, all the women around Harry absolutely FLATTEN him with reassuring regularity. But the fact that there is DOUBT, Baco! That proves he's doing SOMETHING wrong!
