My Apologies in Advance

I'm not quite sure why I find it such a relief to vent on this journal. Maybe because no one knows that I have this account IRL, and no one who knows this account online knows who I am. I rarely update it. Doubtlessly, this has given the virtual impression of me being a self-hating, angsty teen. I'm really not. Generally, I'm happy-go-lucky, kinda ( Read more... )

I need to find the determination to be my own Fairy Godmother.I love that you ended with this statement. That is exactly the kind of attitude you need. I also think the fact that you are in your early 20s should be encouraging to you. You have a lot of time left - plenty of time to make changes, even if they can't occur right away. I hope you don't mind me commenting here; I'm certainly not pretending to have all the answers. I just feel that if you can identify a different career path for yourself, find out what you need to do to make it happen - those are important first steps. I wouldn't make losing weight the main goal right now - many of us fall back on comfort food when we are stressed. I'm not saying you shouldn't continue to try to lose weight if that's what you want to do. Just don't approach it as "the first thing I'll do is lose weight" - at least not at a time when you know you are likely to fall back on that comfort. But once you've identified a path you really want to try, figure out a way to make it happen. You said ( ... )

Thank you so much for your kind words--and no, well-meaning advice really will never offend me. I posted out for a different job at the same company. If I don't get it, I've decided to go back to school (even if I don't have enough saved to pay for all of it) and work a little part time job at Michael's, Joann's or A.C. Moore. I started a little shop on Etsy and I'm working on eating salad instead of stuffing when I'm upset. :)
I started up painting classes to relieve stress, and it's helping a lot.

Wow! That all sounds great. Yay you for taking those steps! Do you have a link to your Esty shop??

I just scheduled a modelling session for my crafts--but my shop name is Her Crafty Ways. I'm working on getting everything uploaded in time for Xmas. :)

Make a list of your goals, select one or two to work on, then outline the steps you need to take to reach said goal(s). Once you've broken it into smaller chunks, it won't seem so daunting. If you can't afford to "go back to college", can you at least take one course at a time? That would be a start. Set up an Etsy shop and begin selling your knitted items and/or your artwork. Take some of your baked goods to work, then let your coworkers know you'll bake for them for a fee. I used to work with a gal who would do peoples' holiday baking for them. It earned her extra money, and it took the pressure off of them. She'd bake in big quantities and freeze things.

Just, don't give up, you know? There's always something you can do to make things better. Good luck.

Thanks! I did start up an Etsy shop. I posted out for a job where I could go to school part time and work from home if I needed to.
I usually cater parties around the holidays--which I love. I'll see if baking would be the way to go. :)

Nope--I'm not giving up. I just needed to say how I was feeling, then gather myself up and get going again. :)
