Philip Pullman's Sally Lockhart books are very Steampunk. And I enjoyed them a lot.

I've heard that before! I think I would like to read them although I have mixed feelings about HDM overall.

The Sally Lockhart books have no message, no dogma--like HDM. Except maybe that women were perfectly capable in Victorian times. I loved HDM, but not as much as I love the Sally Lockhart books. It's funny how you and I converge and diverge on books. We often like the same things and sometimes we just really don't.

Anyway I think you should give the first one a try and see what you think? I'm very curious to see if you like them or not. :D

Also? Colleen Lindsay is not accepting queries at the moment! :/ I'll have to keep an eye because I think she might be a good fit for me--if she likes my work.

Steampunk Magazine is interesting. Warren Ellis rec'd it a few years ago on his blog. My friends and I (back in our crazy college days) tried printing out "A SteamPunk’s Guide to the Apocalypse" with the mad idea of laying them out in high traffic areas around campus, but they wouldn't print right :/

There is also Mr. Ellis's webcomic FreakAngels, which is a futuristic steampunk based around a group of twenty-somethings all born in the same hospital at the same time somehow causing the end of the world with their awesome powers.

I don't think that they're amazed by her VOICE, i mean they are, but what they're more amazed by is that she's 47, and she was kept back her whole life from doing anything with her musical ability, and, sfkjl;fdj, basically, this.

ahaha, i love that i didn't even actually post about it and STILL THIS COMMENT REQUIRED NO EXPLANATION because that is how much she has been EVERYWHERE ahahaha.

ajdfklj;k oh my god i mostly just threw it out there as humor because SERIOUSLY, STEAMPUNK GOSSIP GIRL? and also, i am the least qualified person to write about high school cliques, i was luna lovegood when it came to belonging to social groups when i was in high school. :D but hey, you never know! maybe what the world needs now is luna lovegood steampunk clique novels in space, oh and naturally with zombies.

I AM OFF TO BUY STEAMPUNK NOVELS NOW. DAMMIT, DON'T LET ME DOWN, DASTARDLY STORE THAT STARTS WITH A B THAT I AM ONLY VISITING BECAUSE THE OTHER BOOKSTORE IS CLOSED.
