hey, i tried to go see Speed Racer for you tonight. It was bright. :/ but I didn't even make it to ~~*~*~*~RAIN~*~*~*~ before I got bored and hightailed it back to my apartment to read more Dresden Files. Sorry, pal.
Sheesh. It doesn't take him that long to come on. (Damnit, who's going to write me embarrassing Racer X porn fic now?) Also, I maintain that it is brilliant visually (no, no, in the other sense), and that its editing style will prove influential for years even if the bastard critics cannot appreciate it now.
- Hikaru decides to try and fill May 5th up with good memories instead of bad ones, so every year he makes a habit to do something fun and good and happy, like having a party for his friends or playing a special match with touya or making everyone go to a carnival and making touya ride the ferris wheel with him or okay possibly not this cheesy but still, HAPPY MAY 5th. DAY OF CELEBRATION. <3
I'm pretty sure Hikaru'd consider it an even greater insult to Sai's memory to continue to BE A FLAKE EVER MAY 5TH on top of that first one than to just forget about it. He's got things to do, titles to win, rivals to obsess over.
Touya finds out about Sai and is like "we should go to Innoshima to remember him" and Hikaru's like "uh can't we just stay here and play go?" and would actually RATHER NOT be dragged away to Inno Island to revisit his childhood trauma and be reminded of the most HEART-CONSTRICTING GRIEF OF HIS ENTIRE LIFE, thanks
This'n sounds canon. For god's sake why WOULD he want to remember that every year? Ten years into their relationship, I think Touya'd start to get curious about the huge red ":(" on the calendar every year.
In short: May 5th fics need to either fix themselves or gtfo ://///
And from a completely different angle I just have to wonder why in a fandom this small we all seem obsessed with writing the same kind of thing over and over again, when it's really obvious that there's no mileage being gotten out of this particular subject.
Well, you know me and Touya - I always want to see Touya step up to Hikaru's challenges ALWAYS AND FOREVER. There was that blind_go fic this round where Hikaru moved beyond Touya like, permanently or something, and Touya accepted and acknowledged it and was just OKAY WITH IT and it made me so D-face I wanted to run shrieking to arboretum about how I hated the world. TOUYA WOULD NEVER. MY BEAUTIFUL BOY.

I completely agree with you.
