why the end of Hikago is necessary. And also, sublime.

I have seriously been talking about Hikago non-stop for like 5 days. Is there something in the air, people?

missitar and harumi and I have been discussing the ups and downs of blind_go. I will put my rambling about challenge format and ideal challenge lengths behind the cut to spare the rest of you.( Read more... )

...it wasn't _boring_.
Just a bit repetitive?

But the cylindrical idea in the losses hadn't occurred to me. I just thought it meant Hikaru needs to improve more, not associating it with his prior loss.

lkdjflk okay I have not read the entirety of cut#2 yet but I have read the manga so hahah you can't wear me as a hat. Also:

1) I LOVE THIS IDEA. You know that right? ::flail:: PLEASE YES.

2) So I'm currently in love with this Kpop/hiphop/idek band called Big Bang and they are so cute and I ♥ them so and when I was scrolling down my flist and I saw "Big Bang" in your post, I was ike: WHAT HOW DOES SHE KNOW THEM. (Icon is leader-member of Big Bang!)

3) ...there is no number 3. D:

2) hahahaha. Big Bang was specifically the title the three BBB H/D mods gave to the original challenge. (Haha, I actually didn't like the name and STILL DON'T - except for perhaps as applied to Tenipuri, where Tenipuri Big Bang would be appropriate because TENNIS DESTROYS DINOSAURS etc etc). But it got picked up by other comms borrowing our idea, and so it's kind of become this genre of challenge like a FQF or something.

1) For the hikago novella challenge, i'll say the same thing that i said when i was tossing around the idea of a Tenipuri big bang. (not that I'm not still tossing it around, but i don't really think i have the focus or the support to do that at the moment, plus if I did it, i'd want to do it just for tezuryo, which limits it a lot and wouldn't be what is necessarily best for the fandom, i don't think).

and anyway, what i said then was: if i can drum up the right amount of interest and support, i'll do it. otherwise, there won't be any point, because it's not something you can do all by yourself.

Oh I know what BB is. Stumbled across them a few months ago (through furiosity's journal, I think) and kind of gleed and flailed over the long, canon-compliant fic. I just also like my little Korean boyband, haha. (They are so different from JE. Oh JE, I had my brief but torrid affair with you but it ended badly. I still have fond memories though. Akame is OTP. :D)

Yeah, interest would be a must. I can offer a very very tentative interest in participating (riding on the tails of my starry-eyed-ness at the manga conclusion), but I can't make promises (oh LSATs, why must you be this year?). I hope other people are interested in writing for it, too, not just in reading. It is admittedly a very intimidating prospect (and even for a fandom as large as H/D, no more than ten fics for each round...)

Still, it would be awesome if fandom could drum up interested people.

This post. ♥ I've always been dissatisfied with Hikaru no Go's ending, I felt it was sudden and just dsfhlakshflh, badly startled, I suppose. But this makes me rethink my gut reaction, and. Yes. *_* I can see yur point.

Go for Akira and Hikaru won't *ever* be about winning
That's what sets HnG apart from all the other manga/animes one may end up watching. Winning isn't even the issue, the focus is entirely on the game - on life itself.

Hikaru and Touya becoming more than rivals - we see them becoming partners

For H/D shippers it's such as easy progression to ship these two, MY GOD, it's scary.

when they are together in that arc they're married, married, MARRIED AND SQUABBLING ABOUT DIRECTIONS AND GROCERIES ♥EEEE *glomp* CAUSE THAT LINE IS JUST LOVE ( ... )

I always cry when I read the last few pages of HnG, and then you started discussing the real import of those pages and made me cry even harder. All of which is to say, YES! Just...so much yes. I don't view Hikaru/Akira as a romantic OTP, though I've enjoyed a number of stories pairing the two of them, but their friendship is so deep and committed and perfect, and nowhere is that more evident than right here. You can see the rest of their lives together in this scene.
