So, I'm currently re-reading HBP, and taking copious amounts of notes this time, because there is just SO MUCH I want to think about and say and discuss later. If you're looking for a 'state of the H/D union' post from me, you're going to have to wait a bit, because the first thing on my mind is actually Snape, the second thing on my mind is Harry ( Read more... )

Am not going to touch your HBP thoughts because I'm still firmly stuck in a land where I'm giggling over Mollywobbles, but word word word on HnG. I've only read the first six volumes, but Akira/Hikaru just isn't doing anything for me -- and I quite liked Hikaru/Sai until I realized Sai couldn't touch anything. What kind of boring porn does that make? *sulks*

Everyone keeps talking about how great it is! And how slashy! And I'm not seeing it! Also it doesn't help that people kept comparing it to PoT (my BELOVED) and Slam Dunk so when I found out it was a BOARD GAME I was just like ......................

Hahaha, and the Big! Dramatic! Moments! in HnG so far consist of an overhead shot of THE GO BOARD and this epic soundtrack with BOOMING DRUMS....while they.... move pieces around.

On the BOARD.

ajkdf;fjsk;ksjs I don't know if I can take it. Sai's cute but he may not be cute enough to get me through this. :))

Okay, I was tempted to ask if the anime made Go any more exciting than the manga, but, uh, you went ahead and answered that one for me. (Omfg. Drums? Really?) Look on the bright side, though! Nothing can ever be more hilariously awful than Tezuka's SUPER TENNIS in the PoT movie causing the extinction of the dinosaurs.

... I am one hundred percent serious.

His ball turned into a meteor.

Well, to be fair I'm only 3 eps in, and they're certainly watchable; though as far as I can tell the ships seem to be all about the Akira/Hikaru interaction, and that so far doesn't really seem to be very satisfying. My ex-housemate informs me that it gets much slashier as Hikaru gets more into the game though. But if you're 6 volumes in and aren't feeling it yet, then I'm not going to get my hopes up too high.

Well, honestly. If anyone's tennis ball was going to turn into a meteor, could it be anyone but Tezuka's? Please. =;

So, H/D shippers--now that we've all recovered from having been knocked flat on our asses, let's get up and fucking DANCE. So, H/D shippers--now that we've all recovered from having been knocked flat on our asses, let's get up and fucking DANCE.

I thought of you last night (well, yesterday now) as i was reading. I remember so well you saying at Nimbus that you read the books and went, 'wow, Draco is behaving like a boy with a crush.' --it struck me so much then because I'd never heard anybody articulate so clearly and simply what we'd extrapolated from canon. I've always loved that you read the books that way from the first time, haha. And I kept reading the tremendously not-quite-textual slashy scenes in this book, and the complete OMG level of Harry's increasing obsession with Draco, and at one point I just laughed and thought, 'wow, I bet Dave is somewhere right now smirking his ass off.'

I hope you were, anyway. ♥♥♥

Darn right I was. I predict a tidal wave of HBP-inspired H/D hitting the net in the next few weeks. I know I'm going to be trying to churn out some. :-)

I was SO pleased with this. Not just that Draco couldn't do it when it came down to it, but that he was agonizing about it all along. That just the realization of what he had to do was enough to wake him up. All the people who are saying that he's still an evil little bastard who just didn't have any balls? WRONG. He's realized that, despite his upbringing and his years of spouting Voldemort's rhetoric, he is, at heart, a moral person, if not a good one. I think that he'll be doing a lot of growing up, especially when he realizes all that Snape sacrificed to save him.

I'm also absurdly pleased that he was so excited when he got the cabinets to work. I think he'd lost sight of what they were for, and was experiencing the joy of working hard on a difficult project and completing it successfully. I don't reckon he's had to work hard for much in his life, and it was a good lesson for him to learn.

I noticed, and that honestly makes no sense! The risk was not in killing Dumbledore, it was in *not* killing him since Voldemort's theatening death for that outcome. It's pretty obvious not-having-balls would have lead to the kill, and the choice was a moral one, albeit a very new and one he had to struggle a lot with.

ALSO - we finally see Draco as Harry's opposite number. Just as Harry has to kill Voldemort, Draco is told to kill Dumbledore. These two are yin and yang in my mind - I wonder whether it's at all coincidental that they have opposite coloring.
