Our movie night was fabulous last night. Everyone loved Bride & Prejudice and a bunch of people stuck around for Bend it Like Beckham. And then after that we all just kept hanging out and talking, and we wound up discussing, among a host of other things:

1. IS THIS A TRICK QUESTION? But okay, with soundtracks like this one, where it's all instrumental, I have a hard time separating the film from the music. So unsurprisingly my favorite moment on the soundtrack lines up with my favorite moment in the film, which is when Eames watches Fisher get incepted right in front of him, then blows everything up. I think that their military background has given them experience with compartmentalizing that sort of thing. And I think they operate under their own moral code, even though they are doing illegal things. Like, Eames isn't going to steal some little old granny's purse. I don't think either one of them likes killing people, but it comes with the territory. They're not sociopaths, so they have to compartmentalize it or they wouldn't survive this line of work. And for the moments when it's hard to keep it all sorted in their heads, they have each other ♥

I ASKED THESE QUESTIONS TO CHERRYBINA BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWERS MYSELF. :(((((( OK, what does arthur find romantic? i think he's pretty practical so probably he doesn't have much sense of, "oh, that's romantic", but because i love the idea of arthur as really lowbrow, i kind of enjoy the thought of him watching like, terrible american television/movies and getting emotionally involved in some really fucking awful plotline when watching shit during transatlantic flights, etc. and eames is horrified because he's more of a lit-crit kind of guy and would never read anything from an airport bookshop in a zillion years, never mind watch and enjoy a sandra bullock movie unironically ( ... )
