So summertea was complaining that my pinboard tags are impossible to use, which is a complaint I've heard from numerous people. That's fine; I've never pretended to tag for anybody but myself, and, honestly, I hate logical categorical organization methods too much to start now. :D

in that case i am a one-woman army of writing endless numbers of plotless fics in which arthur destroys, constructs, maims, kills, unpacks, assembles and generally wins at everything with great efficiency. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I WAS AIMING FOR. :(((

i want fic where eames is the brains and arthur is the brawn, basically. 4EVA. like, eames can shoot pretty well but he was army INTELLIGENCE, it wasn't like he was in a foxhole, come on. so when he and arthur team up, arthur is only there to check eames' work afterwards and be a terrifying bodyguard. HELLO YOU SHOULD BE ON BOARD WITH THIS PLAN, RIGHT??? anyway arthur is a terrifying wind of death behind which eames shelters, filing his nails or possibly rereading Orlando and smiling with absent-minded affection as arthur dispatches another assassin with one flick of his credit-card knife.

Like, Eames finds a website that sells bodyguards and is like "teehee this is funny lol" and clicks, and next thing he knows there is an Arthur at his doorstep being all "I will protect you, Young Master" and Eames is like "I AM OLDER THAN YOU" and keeps trying to ditch Arthur for his secret illegal missions and gives up when he realizes Arthur cannot be ditched and also is handy to have on those secret illegal missions and basically it all turns into a Yuu Watase manga with Arthur protecting Eames' dignity at every turn and Eames protesting and leading on about five people at once all the while knowing deep down inside that his heart beats only for Arthur's love but Arthur isn't allowed to love a guard-ee and angsts and finally decides to give up his badge for Eames anyway but there is a loophole in that rule at the last minute and it all ends with kisses and passionate lovemaking and Vienna.

arthur-leads-eames-on-merry-chases produces an instant montage of ridiculousness in my brain. eames chases arthur through a meadow! eames chases arthur through an amusement park! eames chases arthur through the streets of paris! arthur wakes up horrified that his first natural dream in years was a montage of chase scenes!

well and then there are all those ridiculous fics where ARTHUR LITERALLY MAKES EAMES CHASE HIM ALL OVER THE WORLD. oh, fandom. Chasing him through a meadow would at lest have an IMMEDIATELY ASCERTAINABLE GOAL. What is the point of all this jet-lag and dealing with inevitable international customs and flight delays? NO ROMANCE IS WORTH THIS.

BE WARNED THIS IS A PRETENTIOUS COMMENT: sometimes i love those fics though? because the dream-based nature of the canon means you can get away with doing shit like that, with the like...overarching ~metaphorical significance~ of ducking in and out of different countries avoiding each other. because THE CLOSED-BORDERED STOPPING POINTS OF THEIR HEARTS and A MILLION E.E. CUMMINGS REFERENCES and look, i'm super hungover but i'm trusting you to read between the lines and understand my point.

that said, i would kind of love to read the fic where they try to play airport tag and arthur makes it from new york to albequrque and then runs into eames in the airport bar, because he missed his connection and now he's apparently got to fly through D.C. to get to L.A, which just WHAT, and some kid left a jolly rancher on his seat and it stuck to his pants

and eames is like, or we could just have sex in the sheraton and go home

and arthur is like, yeah, that sounds better
