It looks like it was made the year before THL came out, but believe me, this list was as randomized and nonsensical as any "best of" list I've ever seen. There are plenty of good films on it, but not that many great ones. The things they chose at the omission of some true cinema masterworks made it seem like they were determined to be as deliberately middle-brow and establishment-snubbing as possible.
oh, you should! It's a great film, and the bank robbing sequence has been parodied countless times. It's super-homoerotic, lol, but it's also beautiful, and there are gorgeous shots of surfing.
I was even more alarmed that a woman (Wendy Ide) wrote the blurb for that film. D:
Ahahaha whoever compiled that list has definitely not heard of fandom, then. *eyeroll* Being surprised that a woman managed that is like saying that only women can direct romance films.
oh, please, like we would ever let a woman direct a romance film.
okay that was sarcasm, but seriously! I can only name three films that even come close to "romance" that I know of that are directed by women: Lost in Translation (Sofia Coppola), In the Cut (Jane Campion), and The Kids Are All Right (Lisa Cholodenko). And none of them are remotely like so-called "chick flicks."

Although "bank-robbing surfers" made me giggle. I don't think I've ever seen Point Break all the way through actually...

I can't imagine how I failed to recognize its rightful place among such masterworks of world cinema as The Breakfast Club and This is Spinal Tap.
