Oh wow. That's the 12093812 hour long adaptation of Frank Norris' McTeague (and I read that five or so years ago and just now still couldn't remember either author or title without googling 'naturalist novel' 'dentist' dammit...either access to Google or age or wear are destroying my synapses) iirc.

But you watched the whole thing? WOW! How was it? :D

haha, so far i've only watched half of it, i still have the second half to get through today. but it's really beautiful and wonderfully acted. It's sad how much footage they lost and had to recreate with still shots, but the still shots are pretty marvelous, too. and it's full of beautiful recurring images like the one above.

okay I HAVE FINISHED IT \O/ and now i can say that it really does have beautiful symbology and iconography, and i thought the second half would be draggy but it was actually really well-paced and dramatically interesting, even though i'm well familiar with this story. i really enjoyed it. :D

\o/ Where did you find it? Is it available on DVD from somewhere, or Netflix, or...? (And how many hours long is it? I seem to remember 12 or 10 or something, but I don't remember. :D)
