LOL. Half of my published books -- Shakespeare. The Musketeer Mysteries -- could be called fanfic. I also write, beyond my for-money books, austen fanfic at austen.com, though finishing stories tends to wait ont he stuff under contract.

OTOH I've brought entire rooms at conventions to a standstill by announcing I am addicted to writing (and reading) fanfic.

Great post...and, because she forgot to mention it, Sarah's Musketeer Mysteries are published under the name Sarah D'Almeida. And yes, the Shakespeare series as well as Musketeer Mysteries could be called fanfic. The AotW needs to get a grip and worry about things that are really important.

Austen fandom was my very first fandom and my old fics are still archived at the DWG! :D

Mine too. A Touch Of Night with Sofie might have got the most comments for a last chapter EVER. Though I'm very fond of my clockwork Whickam story. And yet he's such a man! Typos and all :) And What if He Were To Pick Me ends with Mr. Bennet starting a coach service to Gretna Green. However, for sheer subversive fun, this is my favorite: http://austen.com/derby/old_2005/sahoyt7.htm

Oh, let me add I've got more fan mail for some of my Austen work than for my published books. Which one has the greater reach? I'd be unable to say.
