my companies website (www.indigo.ca) has taken the Da Vinci Code paperback off their listing.

I guess we'll never solve the mystery of when the paperback is coming out.

What really gets me is that my own company lied to me about when it was coming out. I must have told 500,000 customers this summer to expect the paperback in October of 2005 !!!

No. Have you gotten the "Deluxe Illustrated Edition" of D.V.C.?

It is $35. A woman came up to me yesterday and said (in a quavering voice) "ohh, dear, they seem to be making it mooore expensive... that is unuuusual, isn't it?"

I told her not to worry, that we still had the economical and lightweight normal hardcover.

You're not the only one to be automatically spitting out October 2005 to every customer who has that Dan Brown (damn him) twinkle in their eye. Curses!

We've been telling people spring 2005, because that's what the website originally said (I'm a fellow Chapindigite). We're going to have near riots on our hands when they realize it's not happening (I work in a well-to-do area, and the customers get pissy easily).

Amazingly, we have actually managed to sell some of the illutrated edition, proving that when it comes to the holiday-that-must-not-be-named, people will buy anything.
