I've been floating around in the background and felt the need to post. I work at a Coles bookstore in Toronto which is a subsidiary of Indigo Books & Music. The past couple of weeks have been insane and I have to vent to like-minded people or my head might 'splode ( Read more... )

I totally hear you. I'm at a Coles store in Vancouver, and well, *I* could have written a freakishly similar post.

H/O thinks they are doing something about it. More about that in a soon to be released post.

All the best to you, though.

And to you, fellow Indigoite. Though I don't know if that could be described as a term of endearment as I just bitched about the company. It just gets frustrating y'know? Nice to hear from you though. I was in Vancouver for the first time last summer and loved it. First time on a plane and everything. And I'm a huge Canucks fan. Sorry, rambling.

I'm at a Coles in Saskatoon. One thing you forgot to list in the rant is the #%&*'in returns lists! Our store has over 300 pages of returns, because we had NONE for 6 months then all of a sudden, all of them showed up. And they're supposed to be good for 2 weeks, right? No. Try 4 days. That's right, 4 days. Last night I pulled 5 pages of stock, then tried to enter the return, and there was "no matching delivery number for return"! They were just posted Sunday! Gah!
This is the 5th time this has happened at our store. I'm about ready to write a nasty email to H/O.

Ha ha. Yes, we only just found out about that. I also forgot to mention that my CEM was on holiday, we received nine million boxes of stock, we had 75 pages of returns, only about two people to do any actual shelving to free up carts so I could receive MORE, a skid of clearance stock to unpack and some guy who just moved here from New Brunswick who decided to pick our store to try and steal over $800 in stock from. Gaaaaahhh!!!

Not a Coles person...but of the like... bitwhizzle October 12 2004, 00:17:23 UTC
Yes...you are not alone in your hatred of SAP. It might work for gracery stores, but not for us. Bring back Wordstock! For the love of God, bring back Wordstock!!!

We didn't use Wordstock but we did have SIMS which did far more and was more user friendly and didn't time out and we were able to get more done and far more quickly and....

Ooh, I feel your pain. I too work in a Coles store, and all I have to say about CRAP, er, SAP, is Gaaah! Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the system that a fire axe wouldn't fix. As to the morons who are freshly hired from the Gap, hmmm, I wonder who you're refering to? ;)

Hmmmm. I'm not saying. *grins* Btw, I quickly scanned your journal and I must say that I laughed out loud several times. Lloyd actually visited our store and there was a general panic the night before and the morning of to make sure the store was just so. He stayed for 10 minutes. In case you missed that I said TEN MINUTES!!!!!!!!!! *lets loose torrent of extremely relevant curse words* If you think his missives are frustrating you should read my RM's. Yeesh! Might I add you? I need a good laugh once in a while.

Sure, I'd be happy if you added me. It's good to know that someone else is reading me and I'm not just ranting to myself.=)

sighs.
you know. its so much fun dealing wtih S.A.P. (Not SAP as i am continously corrected) going into christmas.
I am especially pissed off because one of our CEC's has decided to stick hardcorver overstock in the back or random titles.
So returns are a pain in the ass for anyone who sorta knows how to do them.
I am also enamoured by the fact that our quarantine pile is just being received to invoice. gee. thats gonna do wonders for inventory.
anyhow, nothing you don't know, but it just makes a little more flustrating. of course...heather doesn't see it this way and neither do the regional directors nor the vp's.
actually. i *think* we have the same vp whose reigning terror upon all the stores and rearanging the way stores are supposed to work.
anyhow, betcha invetorys gonna show some intresting things!
