Hi there!
I've been lurking in this community for a while now, but since I haven't been actively working at my family's bookstore for the last four months, I haven't had much to contribute.
Last Friday I quit my night shift job at the local 7 Eleven and came back to what I love.

Or always judge them by what books they buy or request then mentally reward yourself for having far greater literary taste :-)

I really don't get this hoity-toity. I'm sorry to hear this is your experience, but in mine, people are generally really respectful of booksellers, one of the big perks of the business IMO. I am glad to hear this is only a small sampling, but over-all I am sorry to hear that it happens often enough to warrant mentioning. I hope things improve for you soon. :)

I think it's just the people in this town ;___;
And, looking on my post, it's kind of unfair for me to compare my 7 Eleven customers with my bookstore customers o__O
Also, I'm only 18. I've been working at the store since it opened when I was 17. A lot of people are used to seeing my mother, and I think they assume I know less just because I'm a teenager.

Or, maybe I just hate my home town so much that I see things that aren't there >__> That's probably it :(

well...no its not just your town. they did it to me too. in a big chain with an "&" symbol in the middle of it.

i got that "are you SURE it will take...?" question so many times. we also had a number of people who couldn't understand what a "business day" was.
