I second the general ARGH CLIFFHANGER sentiments that have been expressed already--God, I was literally edging forward in my seat during this entire chapter, watching worriedly as it seemed to draw to a close and then actually shouting "NO!" at my poor, innocenet computer screen when it was over. Oh, Merlin. D: D: I have no idea for whom my heart broke more during this (and by the way, I have no idea how I've managed to miss this fic until now, but I'm so glad I found it now!!)... I've never seen quite this take on the whole Arthur-finds-out theme, and I like how slowly you've described his development until now. It's true, Arthur did spend most of his life listening to his father tell him how evil magic is; he's not going to do a complete turnabout just because of Merlin, as sad as that is. But with a few nudges, he'll come around right, I think. :P Now, if he just succeeds in drawing Merlin out of whatever hellish world of illusions Nimueh trapped him in... *bites fingernails* I really hope you continue writing soon, you had me

Wow, this is an amazing comment, thankyou! I don't know what to say. I knew the cliffhanger was evil when I did it but the chapter had tottered its way over the 2,000 word mark and there wouldn't be another good time to stop it for another 2,ooo at least.

Its good to know its a new take on the magic reveal, since there are a lot of them out there. And Arthur is a hard-headed chap, as we have seen in season 2! Sometimes I want to reach through the screen and strangle him ;)
