Had to keep it to under 800 words - could have written three times as much easily! Eliza Doolittle yes, but also problematic and needs a proper article of her own really - as would Annie Get Your Gun and Gigi...
I will still NEVER understand why she goes back in the end. It would be much better if she achieved what she wanted to: "be a lady in a flower shop, not selling on the corner of Covent Garden!"
Though she's right not to marry Freddie, he's a drip.
It is quite a forced ending - though apparently was meant to be a bit ambiguous, like Shaw's original. http://www.reelclassics.com/Musicals/Fairlady/fairlady6.htm I can't really buy a romance between them and agree Freddy not a viable option either. In fact it's a musicals that rather annoys me which may be why I didn't write about it. :)
