I didn't take the survey, but it seems like something of a classic "list all the benefits and none of the costs" political poll. Free books, available anywhere, in all possible formats? Sure, why not!
(I'll also point out that, while your intent in the final question is clear, CD is a digital format.)
It's a digital format in the sense that the encoding is digital, but it has a physical manifestation which is what I was trying to get at. Do you get your audiobooks as a thing or as an electronic file?
What prompted this was my browsing through my local library's e-audiobook collection, and being disappointed at its scope. I know there are costs involved (I work for a company that, among other things, is a middleman for e-audiobook vendors) but I do feel that any collection should strive for some sort of "critical mass" or not bother. A 2000-title collection doesn't cost four times as much to build as a 500-title one.
