There is a fantastic book written by Connie Willis titled To Say Nothing of the Dog that runs with the Victorian treasures theme in Jerome's book. I read To Say Nothing of the Dog first, then Three Men in a Boat, then went back and re-read To Say Nothing of the Dog a few months later. Loved the connections between the two books.
