I cross the borderlines on this one: while I get called a frigid, unemotional ice queen, I cop the same people criticising me for being shrill, crazy and angry.

I copped the "crazy hysterical" crap from someone wondering why I was freaking out about the tram driver not stopping after I had been sexually assaulted and then had a second man try to lure me into fuck knows what.

Looking back now, if there was any time to be hysterical and crazy, it was then. And... following those accusations, I went to a whole other level of hysterical and crazy.

We should not live in a society where people are saying "I am lucky: I haven't been raped." This is seriously fucked up. (Though no criticism of you; I hear what you're saying, but worded like that: how royally fucked up is this?)

Excellent link, and resonates with my own experiences. One thing I will absolutely be teaching any children of mine is that a 'no' in any social situation doesn't need to be justified, and especially that it doesn't need to be justified logically. I wish I'd figured that out earlier myself, frankly.
