I call them the same or conspiracy thrillers depending on the central story.

I've not read this author though I do feel that Steve Berry gives Dan Brown a run for this money in terms of fast pacing and interesting mysteries.

A lot of times, they seem to be categorized under conspiracy thrillers, but to me, thriller means scary. I do agree with the conspiracy part most of the time, though.

I haven't read Steve Berry, but I've heard lots of talk about him and I downloaded his first book on my kindle shortly after I read The Lost Throne. I'll definitely have to read it soon!
