Angel Time? Any Good?

I have to say, once upon a time, I loved Rice's work, but it quite quickly went from "Just Right" in Interview and Lestat to "Too Much" in Memnoch and later works. I'm not sure what to think about her newer books, the ones that live in the religious category, because while I love books and stories that bring up theological and religious subjects ( Read more... )

There's a bad review up on the Internet movie data base.

And on amazon one negative review says 'Oh, well. At least it's not soulless vampires.' Clearly this person never actually read Anne's Vampire Chronicles or they'd know all her vampires retain their souls. This isn't Buffy. In the world of most spiritual fiction the soul is a person's consciousness, not some misinterpreted conscience.

Okay, Thank you. It's in my avoid category now. I've found something better to occupy myself with.

The "Soulless Vampires" bit is actually a touch stupid and trite. Ah, the impressionability of the populace. You just have to love them. (Didn't Rice mention somewhere- perhaps an interview- since her "Return to faith" or whatever she's calling it that her vampires were soulless?)

NO! That's one thing Anne Rice has NEVER done. Anne Rice has NEVER referred to her vampires as soulless. Ever. It contradicts too much. In Tale of the body thief Lestat and a nother man swap bodies via soul exchange. The entire plot of Tale of the body thief requires them to have souls, not to mention they astral project.

True, but I do recall her saying unfavorable things about them. You're right, though, she wouldn't openly contradict herself. Ah, either way, Rice is a bit of a disappointment anymore. She's flying on wax wings at this point.
