Well it makes sense that they wouldn't tell you what happens. I mean, the only good thing about those movies was Jack Sparrow, so if you know in advance what happens to him, why bother seeing the movie? At least if I'd known before, I wouldn't have seen it. It does sound like a terrible book though.
A novelization is usually the whole adaptation of the film. This was the first time where the ending was cut out to not 'spoil it.' If it wasn't going to be the whole story I would like to have been warned because I feel cheated and would have waited for the 'extended book.' If they were afraid of giving away the ending they should have released the whole book after the film release and no version of the book before the film. This was just a sneaky way to get extra money out of the fans.
aaah the Boovie. The worst books I've ever read have been boovies. One was even a BV, a book based on the 24 tv series. it was so horrible i left it in london, where i finished reading it.
A good cross polination is Doctor Who: Human Nature. This was a novel based on the TV show character. The novel was years later made into an actual episode... the novel was better.
