Dear unnamed narrator (from RebeccaPlease grow a backbone. Or, y'know, some self-respect. Or confidence. Or anything like that. Reading pages and pages of you comparing yourself to a dead woman is not very entertaining. I enjoyed Rebecca. I've not managed to get into any others of Du Maurier's books, but I thought Rebecca was very well written.

I can see your point about the constant comparisons to Rebecca. The narrator isn't a very strong character, but that didn't stop me enjoying the book.

Oh my Gods I love you. I HATED Rebecca. It's one of two books my English teacher suggested that I actually didn't like. At all. And it's funny because my little sister had to read it in her grade and every one of her friend (and her) loved it. I just found it plain damn boring. Kudos for you!

I hated that book. It was well-written, but same as you, I wondered when she'd grow a spine.

Ugh, I know what you mean by disliking the narrator. I actually hoped that the book was from Rebbecca's point of view--would've been so much more interesting.
