I've seen the movie. It also has a few interesting alternate endings on the DVD.

As for the illustration, unfortunately the first edition I could get a hold of was the text only version so I didn't get to see the illustration when I first read it.

Whoops, it just occured to me that I misspelt Yvaine's name. I read the book three years ago, sorry.

I love this book but I completely agree with you; I basically pretended that the epilogue didn't happen and proceeded to forget about it and I'm much happier that way! :D
It kind of made a finished book feel unfinished, like nothing was resolved. That's frustrating.

I skimmed the review since I don't want spoilers. Besides Good Omens, I've only read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman which I disliked. I was considering trying Stardust. Have you liked any of his other books?

I love this book and I disagree with the fail. It works for it and it's very Gaiman.

I agree with you--it's definitely a very Gaiman ending and I felt like it worked. I actually just finished this book for the first time a month ago. And, while it felt very bitter sweet, it seemed so perfect, especially in consideration of the type of relationship Tristan and Yvaine had.

I love Neil to death, but to me, his novels are always great, right up until the end. Sometimes i feel like he tries to make the ends just make too much sense. I still like his novels, especially American Gods, but I've always felt his short stories were better.
