Can't say I've heard of this one. I'm not sure it would appeal to me either.

Just thought I'd say don't worry about the Dracula thing, I always believed that bookfails was here so we could express our opinion on books we hated, I've seen books I've loved being slated and I've slated books I'm sure other people have loved. People shouldn't get so damn upset about what is just an opinion.

i know, several of my favorite books have been on here and i didn't get outraged by it, but apparently several people couldn't see how anyone could not like dracula *shrug*

Oh don't apologize! The point of this community is to post about books you thought failed; you are absolutely entitled to your own opinion. I hated Life of Pi and I know it's won an award or something; so someone out there must've liked it. Doesn't mean I'm changing my opinion any. =)

And this books sounds terrible ick. =(((( Child molesting is NOT cool. Unless you handle it properly like in Barry Lyga's Boy Toy where showing the not okayness of it was the point.

It won the Man Booker Prize, one of the most merited literary awards in Britain (The Commonwealth, Ireland, somewhere else). But that doesn't mean they don't sometimes give it to bad books (Salman Rushdie >( ) I just thought I'd point it out drive-by.

Other people are allowed their opinions as well and should be allowed to point them out in the discussion your review sparks, surely?
That said, I LOVE "Love Song for Bobby Long", and the book sounds nothing like it, which is sad. I might still have to read it now that I know of it though.

book spoilers there were major changes though in the movie than from the book. in the book her mother didn't leave her a house. and she wasn't a singer. bobby didn't turn out to be her father. lawson was "byron" who was supposedly like 50 something. their neighbors in the book were homeless and lived in their "outdoor living room" instead of just having it as a hang out of sorts. they didn't quote famous authors, they quoted poetry instead (which was a disappointment because i really like how they did the whole quotes thing in the movie). georgianna pretty much screwed both bobby and byron instead of just dating byron. i don't know, i REALLY REALLY tried to like the book 'cause i love the movie so much but i just couldn't make that happen no matter how badly i wanted to.
