Wow, it finally came out? I remember hearing about it for ages and ages when I was into Viva La Bam, but never thought it'd actually get published. The section you shared is just really bad, and I'm not surprised at all that Frantz is a shitty editor - him and Gee were always my least favorites, they're like the definition of leeches. Pretty much any entry level photography or film student could make the products they do.

That dialogue is so awkward, oh my goddd. And I'm sure the story isn't much better, especially because I've probably heard every single plot twist and bit of anecdata at least twice on the radio show since Novak doesn't know how to shut up ever. Do they actually think people who aren't already fans would ever buy his book? I wonder if it'll sell less or more copies than that cook book thing April put out. Too bad Dico probably won't ever write anything, he's the only person from their group I'd even consider wasting money on.

Yeah, it came out like a year ago. They keep claiming that there will be a movie, but I doubt it. They don't have the focus for that, and Novak's never going to stay clean long enough for them to get a movie about him trying to get clean done.

The dialogue is horrible! Especially the parts that talk about the CKY crew. You can tell they only wanted to expose Novak and nothing that might embarrass anyone else in the crew. At all. Or make it look like they were even there.

I agree about Dico. I'm so in love with him. Too bad he kind of just stepped out of the spotlight for the most part. I got Minghags just for my Dico fix.

Yeah, I'm not surprised, dialogue has never seemed to be any of their strong suits. Haggard would almost be funny if I didn't cringe every 20 seconds when people are talking. Too bad about the not including other people thing, I'd imagine most people who bought it were only doing it in the hopes of reading new stories about the crew.

I didn't even know he was in that one, I thought he'd sort of backed out of the group almost completely by then, just like Dunn. Might have to track down a copy now.

Dunn's in it too! They tried to replace Raab with some... bagger guy that seems a little slow? It's weird, and not the best, but Dico's got two main parts in it and Rake's actually likeable. If you do get a copy, get it cheap, or maybe try and find a place to watch it online to see if it's worth it at all.

That's really disappointing to hear :/
I usually love reading stories about people who can crash like this, because it shows how fragile we are. But I tend to like hearing it from the actual person themselves instead of another telling about it. Making it into one big commercial, as you said, is awful! Stop doing that, world!

Before I read the review, I have to ask...
"By the age of fourteen, Brandon Novak had been discovered by legendary skateboarders Tony Hawk and Bucky Lasek and was on his way to becoming a pro. For the next few years, he toured the country, signed autographs for thousands of fans, won big-time sponsorships, and had his photo in skate magazines. At only eighteen, he had accomplished more than most people dream of in a lifetime."

Is this self insertion fanfiction with a don't do drugs message?

oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh.

Well, fuck. Sucks that the book was ruined by an editor. :/ Sounds like it could have been awesome.
