(1) I am still no sure. I think Lena mentions that can just happen. Her and Ridley had it. It's also something her mother has. And in fact was probably listening in on Lena and Ethan a lot of the time.

(2) It's just with Lena's family that claiming gives them no choice. Due to whatsherface did in the past - trying to resurrect Ethan. Because she used the book of moons to do it, it resulted in the curse on the generations to come.

(3) How did they not know Larkin was bad? Hell! His name even makes him sounds like a bad 'un, and the snakes is a bit of a giveaway.

Like the original reviewer I am somewhat surprised by the number of positive reviews for this novel though did find plenty over at Goodreads who gave it a thumbs down.

That's Goodreads for you. The majority of those people don't actually know anything about well-written books. It's just a big YA-worshiping fanclub. It's interesting how you see the shittiest YA books with the highest reviews, and Booker Prize-winning books can barely crack 3.5 stars.

This book made me sad. It was to long and the story felt like it was never going to end.By page 350 I already knew where it was going but sadly the author kept going and going.
