I've finished 119 books in 2012 (currently reading 2 but I don't think I will finish before tomorrow) and 37,914 pages. So for 2013, I plan on reading at least 125 books. I also hope to read around 40,000 pages. I also plan on finishing my TBR.

HOLY COW! I'm barely at 45. I'm a slow reader. But still -- hats off to you, pumkiin! :)

After succesfully completing my 200 book goal (at 205 right now, and should hit 206 by the end of the day), I have decided that the only way I'm setting up a goal like that again is if I deploy again. On the plus side, I got to make a fancy Excel spreadsheet which I'll probably force other people to stare at tomorrow by putting up a Google Docs version.

I'm trying to catch up on the Wheel of Time series before the final book comes out on the 8th, but I'm on book seven and these books are a lot longer than I remembered. Past that I have Fortress Frontier (the sequel to Control Point) by Myke Cole, The Daylight War (Book 3 of the Demon Cycle) by Peter V. Brett, Emperor of Thorns (Last book in the trilogy) by Mark Lawrence, looking forward to the sequel to Insignia by S.J. Kincaid, waiting for the third book in the Crimson Worlds series by Jay Allan (due out in a week), and of course the protracted wait for Winds of Winter by GRRM.

I'm going to attempt to read 100 books, and then donate copies of each to a library by the end of the year. Not to promote...but actually I am going to vlog the experience on YouTube, and ya'll are welcome to watch! :D
My channel is here...the first real video will be up tonight after midnight. www.youtube.com/user/RoxyReads100

Instead of a set number, my goal is to read at least two books I already have, for every new book I read. My tbr pile is getting ridiculously big.

I'm having a hard time deciding what my goal will be for next year because this year's goal is cheesing me off.

I was supposed to read 100 books and as of right now, 7 1/2 hours away from the new year, I've read 99. 99! Now I'm in a position of choosing between going to a wicked DANCE PARTY or staying home alone to finish this damn 100th book and actually reaching a goal, for perhaps the first time in my life.

I have also considered just picking up a picture book or something super short but that feels like cheating. So, I'm not sure that I'll do a goal next year because I'm so g.d. cheesed off right now.

I hope you chose the dance party.

Books are great but they're better with a social life.

And besides, statistics are less significant.

So you read 100 books. What prize does that give you? A certain amount of pride. But you can try again this year, and again and again. But in the meantime, do you want to stress through a book at a rapid pace just to match some number, or appreciate the book at your own pace after recovering from a dance party?

Quantifiable life is interesting but meaningless without quality. These 50 book challenges, 200 a year goals and stuff confuse the hell out of me. I want to enjoy reading books, not race them with my ever diminishing heartbeats.
