The Stone Book Quartet by Alan Garner (read it already, it's amazing). The Compleat Ankh-Morpork (I love maps and Discworld). Roman Britain by Richard Hobbs (I've been on a Roman kick since visiting Hadrian's Wall this summer) Nightwoods by Charles Frazier.
I also got some money so I will be purchasing loads more books no doubt. I'm in two minds whether to re-read The Hobbit since seeing the film over the weekend.
Gentlemen of the Road and The Final Solution: A Story of Detection by Michael Chabon. I know he has a new novel out but I didn't ask for it because I'm weird and like paperbacks more than hardcovers ^_^*
I also got a B&N giftcard that I may end up spending on the manga Thermae Romae, which I just discovered is released in glorious hardcover. (It's probably the best manga about time traveling ancient Roman bath-builders ever.)
LOL I just realized that I contradicted myself with that post. But huge hardcover graphic novels and manga I DO like. I just don't like hardcover novels!
