required book reading failure day, scrub my brain, kill it with fire, author last names a-f, like watching paint dry, i think this author is overrated!!!, at least the pages were numbered, overrated reading fails, it's literature dammit

Ya know, I have such a love/hate thing about her writing. In between the rambling, circular seemingly autobiographical essay/narratives that are supposed to pass for "stories," there are some really great ones. (I happen to own a signed hardback copy of this book).

I can only take her in small doses, though.

I read a novel of hers for books1001 community on LJ and loathed it for much the same reasons you describe there. way too much of her in the story, mundane details that DRAG, and yeah. why she gets praise is beyond me as well.
