My synopsis (no spoilers):

XVI is a dystopian novel about Nina, a girl who is afraid to turn 16. Oh man, I was stoked about this book after reading the synopsis. It sounds awesome. And then I kept reading your post and realized this was posted in bookfails.

It's really disappointing because the book (like you said) sounds like it could have done so much more with the idea and instead just crashed and burned. Fucking rape culture :(
