I know I'm a little late to comment on this, but I'm really glad I'm not the only person who disliked this book. It came highly recommend and was mostly a disappointment. For a book that she apparently did a lot of research on, Gruen's story was unrealistic to me. And boring-unrealistic.

It's been a while since I read it, but I seem to remember feeling like a lot of the circus-related ideas were really clichéd, too. Oh well.
