Well that's depressing. I had hoped to make an attempt at reading this series. Maybe I still will, but I'll try getting it from the library instead of buying it.

YES THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED. It was such a beautiful premise, and the execution was dull and unexciting and just wasted. :(

This sounds like a disappointment. I really like the idea of mythological creatures in contemporary worlds. I don't like Michael Bayalized books.

*unsolicited book recommendation* You should try Changeling, by Delia Sherman: it's New York In-Between, with a smash up of all sorts of mythologies, set in contemporary NY. It's very fun. :D
