It's not done being written yet, but the upcoming book that I'm most excited about is Ellen Kushner's 4th Riverside novel about Jessica Campion as a child/teenager. It has THEATRE and a bossy cranky teenage girl protagonist and she read a section aloud at Sirens last year and it is, as far as I can tell, the ideal book and I can't wait for it to happen.

Oh wow, I hadn't heard about this at all! Man, I should reread Privilege of the Sword one of these days.

OMB, the Amazon reviews of the Sheri Tepper book! They range from, "This was my first book by this author and it was... Kind of weird?" to people ready to beat up the people who gave it one-star reviews because they are HERETICS who KNOW NOTHING. But the plot summaries from the people who liked it are the weirdest, because they are trying to make it make sense, and they just keep getting more incomprehensible. "He is murdering everyone, especially the boys." So, everyone is dead, but some people are *especially* dead?

I have only read one Zen Cho story so far, even though I quite liked the one I read - I am The Worst at reading short stories for some reason - but that novel sounds amazing! Thank you for bringing it to my attention, so I can keep an eye out for it once it's out.
