Okay, so I just read The Lost Conspiracy by Frances Hardinge (published in the UK as Gullstruck Island), and - okay, this woman has published four books, and every single one I have loved to pieces, and this one isn't my favorite exactly, but I think it is legitimately her best.

Man, Frances Hardinge is maybe the best author I've discovered since I graduated college. And I don't say that lightly!

I think I will always love Fly By Night a little bit best, because it hits half a dozen of my buttons (although Verdigris Deep! so good!) but in terms of sheer quality this one is just, ahhh! How does she do this.
