Well, it's always sort of complicated in the Doctor Who universe. Sometimes people die but it was a fakeout, and sometimes people die but then we see them again earlier in their own timeline, and sometimes people die but get brought back by the power of love, and sometimes people die and turn into robots, and sometimes people die and turn into sort of undead corpse-zombies and then die again after a few episodes, and . . . I mean, I could go on.
Okay, so there's the fakeout death Amy's Choice, and then the time he actually dies, and then the fakeout death in last week's episode - and yes, pretty much everybody had a fakeout death in last week's episode, but it was all the same very dramatic! - and then the death-by-drowning-and-resuscitation this time around. Not only is he beating Amy and Eleven, if I'm not mistaken he's beating Buffy!
It's true, they are kind of low on options for fakeout deaths! And Amy had her big fakeout death last season, but then again . . . so did Rory. (And then there was the season opener, which between the two parts managed to fakeout kill everybody, even River, which as you say shouldn't be possible!) I think clearly what this means is that they need to bring on some more regular cast members so the new people can have a turn fakeout dying, since clearly this is a plot device Moffat is not getting tired of all that soon. It doesn't actually irritate me, I just find it kind of hilarious.
And yes, your feelings are similar to mine. This episode is not going to rank among the greats or anything, but it was perfectly serviceable entertainment that maintained adorable character relationships and didn't permanently kill Rory, sometimes that's all I ask for!
They need to stop killing him, its not fair though more shirtless would be good. And more wet hair all around especially for the men because it makes them look sexy.
Also I'm totally with you on I have no idea what's going on, but I'm fine with that.
I'm sorry, I was going to leave a relevant comment but then I saw your icon. *_*
(It should explain enough that I first wrote that as "a relevant icon")
Okay, okay, relevancy: I watched it with my Heather (vs. anyone else's Heather THERE ARE SO MANY HEATHERS) and we pressed pause to just look at each other and go "really?" As in we actually said that.
Oh, Rory. You should dress like a dapper late 60s dude more often. And not die.

No, then there's still time to go, my parents would check how much time was left and go, that's not the real ending.
There's still half an hour left, its a fake out death!
