1) Loving the story so far - plenty of action and mystery and I somehow (??????????) don't hate the romance or at least what has started of it so far. The secondary cast is pretty cool and I'm interested in learning more about them. I hope many of them are in the next books

not making me listen to an inner monologue about how sexy a guy's muscles are or something
Haha, yeah, I appreciate that so far, the descriptions of Rupert aren't too over-the-top. I can buy some of the description we are getting as part of the mystery with him, but if he was just a completely ordinary guy, it might start to grate a bit. Although I lol-ed when Devi offered to get hair ties for Rupert to win when they play poker.
Definitely good characterization and I agree about the magicky things. I'm hoping eventually we revisit the earthquakes or at least the reasons for the earthquakes from that planet even though they've left it. Maybe it has something to do with Caldswell and not specifically something to that planet.
1) I hadn't read a space opera in a while and I'm liking this one so far. I appreciate the mystery aspect, as well, but I am sorta wanting to read ahead to find out what exactly is going on. I'm glad I didn't start reading this before now, b/c I don't think I could've stopped with chapter 8 (am just taking a break and filling out these questions). XD

1) Loving it so far! Great characterizations, and the first-person narrative is well-written (sucky first-person is a pet peeve of mine). Nova makes me laugh, she reminds me of Luna Lovegood

Yeah for me at least, Devi has an amazing personality and I love her as a character so personality wise I wouldn't think of her as a Mary Sue exactly... but she is just so good at everything! XD
It does suck it's such a short book - I am almost done with book 3 and I honestly think the trilogy could have been just one longer novel rather than 3 kind of short ones.
