1) It was a bit rushes, and I think too much time was spent on Locke trying to convince Doña Vorchenza to get rid of the sculptures compared to the encounter with Grey King. Although I was pretty thrilled when I realized Locke is cheating the nobles again and making a death offering of all the money on Satisfaction.

Grey King's motivation was not very ground shaking. His parents were not the only ones killed by Barsavi, so what was special about him and Cheryn and Raiza to make them go on a revenge spree? That could've been elaborated on more.

At one point I was actually expecting Grey King to be someone from Locke's childhood, from the time he was in Thiefmaker's gang. But apparently he was not.

2) I liked it a lot and would've given 5 for the plot, but because they were so few women I will give only 4.

3) Yes, probably. First Lord of the Rings though, so it might be a while (:

1) It felt sort of anticlimactic to me, though I do appreciate a plot where the bad things that happen are just the natural fallout of other people's lives. Especially since what happened to Locke is essentially just a more severe version of what he himself does to his victims (though I got the feeling the irony was largely lost on him)

2) 3/5. It's well written, and Jean was a lot of fun, but there were just a lot of... I don't want to call them flaws because that suggests a sort of objective problem. But they were aspects of the plot and pacing that just didn't work for me.

3) I will. I've already gotten it out of the library actually, and I'm just waiting to finish up with either of the two books I'm in progress on to start it. I don't want to have to reread Lies to get it, and if I wait too long for Red Skies, I may feel I need to.

1) How did you feel about the ending? Any thoughts about the Grey King's real motivations?
It was alright, but killing EVERYONE seemed a bit too far.

2) What did/would you rate this book out of 5?
A 4. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit long. And I'm finding just a month after reading it I've forgotten quite a bit of what happened, so not that memorable.

3) Will you be reading the next book?
I tried, but didn't get very far. It was all Jean and Locke and kind of boring. Plus I could only get the ebook version from the library and long books on my phone can feel so much longer.

4) Any other thoughts about the book you walk to talk about?
I was pretty sad that so many people got killed off.

Long books definitely feel longer to me when they are on my kindle haha. There's something about turning the page 8 times and not moving a single % that is rather soul crushing.

1) I figured that Locke would end up helping the Spider, but I like that the Spider is turning the job over to the new nobles that Locke swindled in the first place. I thought the Grey King's real motivation for doing everything seemed... really out there? @_@ what happened to his family was horrible but he uh... is really escalating things...

2) I gave it a 4/5 on goodreads, probably more of a 3.5 in general. After everyone talked about Nazca being fridged I just couldn't stop thinking about it and it made me sad. But I hear book 2 finally brings on some cool lady characters who hopefully don't get killed off in 3 chapters

3) Yes!
