Two Videos and a Poll

I'm the most indecisive person in the world, and am having the hardest time deciding on a camp name for the summer! My best friend says it should have something to do with dancing, as that's one of the things I absolutely love doing, but I couldn't come up with anything good. I also thought briefly of rocking the school spirit and being something ( Read more... )

Spontaneous song and dance would make life so much more fun! (And make me feel less weird for being someone who doesn't actually mind singing and dancing in public.)

As for the names, I picked Dragonfly because you wanted something that included dance, and dragonfly makes me think of dancing.

I get embarrassed about singing in public, unless someone else is doing it with me. I'm more likely to dance in public. While usually I do it in less noticeable ways (like small tap steps), I've also been known to do things like turn pirouettes in grocery aisles or break out into random dance moves while walking down the sidewalk. I embarrassed a couple of oh-so-mature 4th graders I was leading once by doing the latter. It was rather funny!

I'll often sing in public, but not loudly -- it's more of a personal entertainment track. If I think people can hear me or think I'm talking to myself I'll stop, mostly because that signifies weirdos, being in a city as we are. But on the whole I've found that I'm way more confident singing in front of random people, or teaching random people songs, than most people are who aren't in a choir.

I don't dance in public as randomly, but I'm not embarrassed (any longer -- I had to train myself out of it) to dance if there's music being played.

Oh I sing quietly ALL the time when I don't think anyone is listening (sometimes, I don't even realize I'm doing it!). But I'm rather self-conscious about my voice, so I don't do it loudly by myself.

I used to be afraid to dance in public (except when I thought no one was watching) even at events like school dances where it was expected that you'd dance. I was (and still am to some extent) rather self-conscious about how silly I look when I'm not following a choreographed routine. It wasn't until I got to college that I decided that I enjoy dancing way too much to let my fear of what other people might think get in the way.

Two friends and I went out and danced randomly today. Probably in part to be less stressed about finals but it was great fun.
